Historical UNSC — Iraq War 2003
It's 2003, and the world is divided over whether Iraq possesses weapons of mass destruction. Delegates will step back into the Security Council chamber as it was then, navigating intelligence disputes, competing national interests, and the question of whether unilateral military action can ever be justified without Council authorization.
The Security Council holds primary responsibility for international peace and security, with the power to authorize sanctions and military action. This historical format asks delegates to work within the real constraints, alliances, and information available at the time, a demanding committee suited to experienced delegates.
Meet your chairs
Jana Radi
My name is Jana, I am wrapping up my bachelors degree in Political Science and Economics at the University of Heidelberg. I come from Cairo, Egypt but I grew up in Doha, Qatar. I started MUN back in High School and although I take small breaks I can never fully stay away. A fun fact about me is that I have a diving license and a windsurfing certificate !
Mahima Rajpal
Hello! I’m Mahima Rajpal, an Electrical Engineering and IT major at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). MUN has become one of my greatest passions, allowing me to combine my interests in international affairs, diplomacy, and public speaking, whilst traditionally being an tinkerer at heart. Over the years, I’ve served in a multitude of leadership roles throughout the European MUN Circuit, including Secretary-General of KAMUN 2026, USG Academics and have chaired multiple conferences, with the UN Security Council being one of my favourite committees. Outside of MUN, I enjoy performing arts, yoga, fashion, swimming, strength training, and chess. I’m absolutely pumped to chair UNSC in Amsterdam alongside my lovely co-chair Jana.
